Teresa Silvana Pigna Zulla, 51, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 1, 1973, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the beloved daughter of Giustino Pigna and the late Theresa Fields Pigna.
A proud graduate of St. Hubert’s High School (Class of 1991), Teresa went on to earn her radiology degree in Elkins Park, PA, in 1996. She built a successful career as an MRI Technologist, dedicating nearly three decades to patient care in numerous hospitals throughout the Philadelphia area before continuing her work in North Carolina with the McLeod Hospital System and Novant Hospital.
In 2005, Teresa met Carlo Zulla, and despite her devotion to her four children and career, Carlo was immediately drawn to her beautiful soul. Their love story grew over the years as they blended their families, raising seven children together—including two sets of twin girls. On August 29, 2009, they married in Mansfield, NJ, officially uniting their family with love and laughter.
Teresa was kind, compassionate, and full of life. She had a radiant spirit, bringing joy to everyone she met. She cherished time with family and friends, whether relaxing on the beach, hosting gatherings with a glass of wine, savoring morning coffee, or watching the sunset from her lanai. She also found fulfillment in volunteering at her church and giving back to her community.
Teresa is survived by her devoted husband, Carlo Zulla; her loving father, Giustino Pigna; her cherished children, Joseph DiRuggieri, Justin DiRuggieri, Gianna DiRuggieri, and Sylvana DiRuggieri; and her stepchildren, Alyssa Zulla, Ashley Zulla, and Alexandra Zulla. She is also survived by her brother, Orlando (Missy) Pigna, and her nephews, Vinnie and Michael Pigna.
A memorial celebration in Teresa’s honor will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:30 PM at Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5, 11630 Caroline Rd #3, Philadelphia, PA 19154. A North Carolina memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Teresa’s warmth, kindness, and love will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.
