Tom was born on 1/16/40 in Middleport, PA to Stephen Matlock and Helen Sabisky. He went on to attend Nativity BVM High School and later graduated from Penn State with a degree in Engineering. His career brought him many travels within the U.S. and internationally which served as a vessel for his final job of retirement in his late fifties where he relocated from the beaches of Southern CA to North Myrtle Beach, SC. He once said wherever he settled had to have an ocean and an airport.
During his lifetime, he was well known to be a man of integrity who was adventurous, fun, and filled with life. He never missed an opportunity to celebrate holidays, birthdays and milestones with his family and friends. In his spare time, amongst many hobbies he enjoyed racquetball, tennis, skiing, golfing, traveling, and spending time building things. On any given day you could catch him enjoying the sunset with a few friends and some good tequila. He was a great conversationalist filled with knowledge and wisdom. Although it seems his life was cut short, he truly lived and enjoyed his time here on earth.
With heavy hearts, he is survived by his companion of 14 years Rebecca Weber of North Myrtle Beach, SC, his daughter Jayne Matlock of Myrtle Beach, SC and son James Matlock (his wife Linda Klein-Matlock) of Santa Barbara, CA. In addition, his grandchildren; Danielle Martin-Ebert (her husband Kelly Ebert), Jacki Blair, Catalina Matlock, Thayer Matlock and great-grandchildren Devon Zanca-Martin and Jianna Martin.
At Tom’s request in lieu of a traditional service, a celebration of life will be held at later date to be announced.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.leefhandcrematory.com for the Matlock family.
