Thomas (Tom) Franklin Quick, 78, of Calabash, NC, passed away suddenly on April 29, 2025. He was born October 18, 1946 to the late John and Liz Quick in Washington, DC and grew up in Maryland. He was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was a retired federal government employee who proudly served as a Navy Seabee during two tours in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968. He married his sweetheart Sue Elaine Shipley four times, but their official marriage date was January 21, 1967. They have two children together, Brian Quick, and Angela (Angie) Bell.
Tom was a force of nature and a ray of light. He did it all, from coaching his kids' sports teams, to teaching his grandkids how to use all his tools. He was always outside, and loved water skiing, golfing, and mowing lawns. He worked hard, but played harder and knew how to enjoy life. He was always listening to music and could often be found on a dance floor. He was always making those around him smile and chuckle, so it’s unsurprising that he had the nurses laughing and falling in love with him up until his last moment.
His spirit will live on when his loved ones listen to an oldie radio station, see a golf green, touch a hammer, or sip a beer, especially his favorite, Natty Light.
Tom is survived by his siblings: Susie, Margie, Larry, Marty, Betsy, Cindy and Matt; his wife, Sue; his children, Brian and Angie, as well as his four grandchildren, Benjamin Bell, Rebecca Quick, Justin Quick, and Brooke Bell, and one great-grandchild, Natalie Niles.
Memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, tell a friend a joke and make them smile.
