

Phil was born and lived in Charlotte until moving to the beach in 2015. He was the son of the late Robert Beam and Gladys Beam Riggins.
He graduated from Harding High School. Phil owned and operated Derita Auto Parts for many years, then Beamer’s Lunch. Phil played golf for many years, but after moving to the beach, he became an avid fisherman. Having a great love for shag dancing since his teens, he was a member of Charlotte Area Shaggers Hall of Fame and the Sandflea Living Legends.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; daughter Vickie Byrum (Karey); sons Phil Beam (Vannette); Joey Beam (Mellisa); grandchildren Namath Beam (Mayra); Nick Beam (Danielle); Kyler Byrum; and Trevor Byrum; great grandchildren Philip and Genesis Zarate Beam (Sandra Zarate); Serenity Beam; brother Bob Beam (Judy); nephew Bobby Beam; nieces Karen Falbaum; LaPhyllis Lenhardt (Dave); and family member, Debbie Bunn.
His wishes were to be cremated and no services. The family will have a private memorial.
