

He was born on July 9, 1927 in Hickmans Crossroads. He was the son of the late Draudy and Carrie (Edge) Bellamy.
After graduating from Shallotte High School, Pete served in the U.S. Army for three years at which time he was honorably discharged. After his military service, Pete was a crane operator for many years prior to joining the North Myrtle Beach Police force. He then served as a deputy with the Horry County Sheriff’s Department.
Pete was an active member of the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach. He loved to garden and his harvest was enjoyed by many. He had a passion for fishing and he enjoyed nothing more than taking along his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, competitive even in his later years. Pete’s woodworking creations, including boats can be found in the homes of all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Pete lost his loving wife of 72 years in March of this year. Together they loved nothing more than having the entire family for holidays, special occasions, or just a Sunday dinner. The center of their life together was always family.
Survivors include his son, Chuck Bellamy (Pam); daughters; Lila Mungo (Greg), Edna Walker (Joe). Grandsons; Chip Bellamy (Mylissa), Chris Bellamy (Christine), Charlie Bellamy (Natalie), Joshua Walker (Kimberlee), granddaughter, Heather Allison (Greg). Great grandchildren; Will, Isaac, Samuel, Olivia, Emma, Luke, and Walker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna E. (Platt) Bellamy, brothers; James Draudy Bellamy, Jr. and Clinton Bellamy. A grandson, Matthew Bellamy.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory, 11840 Hwy 90, Little River. The family will receive friends and family from 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Post 186 American Legion.
