William "Bill" G. Moran, age 96, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Born on August 22, 1928, in the Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late William and Grace Moran.
He was a loving husband to Nancy Moran for 63 years, a devoted father to Patricia Moran Hartnett (Kevin), Lorraine Moran Sembler (Ray), Joyce Moran Bergstol (Roy) and Bill Moran. Bill was a cherished grandfather (Papa) to Bryan Bergstol, Matthew Bergstol, and Brendan Hartnett.
Bill turned 96 in August. From a young age growing up on a farm in the Bronx, he joined the Navy and became a semi-pro baseball player. He also excelled in competitive speed skating and taught skating at the Woolman Rink in NYC. Bill picked up golf in his 20's and practiced daily to become a scratch golfer, still playing into his late 90s and teaching his entire family the love of the game.
He loved the New York Rangers and was alive for all four Stanley Cup championships, making him one of their oldest fans (LGR!). Bill loved his family, golf, the Rangers, God, and his country. May he rest in nothing but eternal peace on the greenest golf course in heaven.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1100 8th ave N. North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29582. Interment will immediately follow the mass at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens, 65 SC-90 Little River, South Carolina 29566.
