Born Angelina Manganello on March 18, 1924 to her parents, Anthony and Calogua (who went by Caroline) she spent her formative years in Newark, NJ, where she attended school.
On October 29, 1940 she married Jack Pariso, to whom she was married to for over 70 years, until his death in April of 2010. Together, they raised two children, Joseph and Mary in their Livingston, NJ home, where she had resided since 1953.
Through her children, Angelina found the role that would define the bulk of her life, that of a grandmother. To her grandchildren Stephanie, Stephen, and Joanne through her son, Joseph and Jacqueline, Danielle and Valerie, through her daughter, Mary, she was known simply as “Nannie”. One could always count on Nannie’s house to smell of delicious food including her famous pasta sauce, and her signature soup. Nannie never met anyone that she didn’t believe, that with enough of her personal care, she couldn’t fatten up. She would always say - “Eat, you’ll feel better.”
Many people would consider themselves blessed to see their grandchildren, but our Nannie was beyond blessed as she lived to see six great-grandchildren.
Among her descendants, Angelina has doctors, teachers, software and marketing designers, a police officer, an author/speaker and a cancer survivor. So it is safe to say, that the fruits of her life will be felt for generations to come.
Angelina is survived by her son, Joseph and his wife, Ann, her daughter Mary, and her husband, Charles as well as her grandchildren - Stephanie and Michael Oppergarrd and their daughter, Kylie. Stephen and Shauna Pariso and their children, Andrew and Sophia. Joanne Pariso and her daughter, Morgan. Jacqueline Phillips-MacMahon and her husband Michael and their to-be-born son, Jack,. Danielle Phillips and her children, Aidan and Angelina. And her granddaughter, Valerie Phillips.
