I will never forget your thoughtfulness, Uncle Arthur. You were the first one from the Arceo relatives who called me when Papa passed away. You mentioned you and Papa were very close. That’s also what Papa would always tell us—that’s why he chose you to be Ate’s godfather.

I was planning to visit you when Ate Joyce arrived, but then you suddenly called me last March 28 to say goodbye, saying you were going back to the U.S. and couldn’t wait until Holy Week. I never thought that would be your final farewell—right during Holy Week.

Thank you so much, Uncle, for being so kind. Every time I spoke with you, I would be reminded of Papa, because he said you were his best friend. I will always include you in my daily prayer.

"Dear Lord, we entrust our dear Uncle Arthur into your loving arms. May Christ Jesus welcome him into the promise of heaven, where there is no more pain of loss, only the love of God. Grant him eternal rest, O God, and let your perpetual light shine upon him. Amen."

Arthur or “Atot” to his close friends was a kind human being always willing to help. I remember vividly when we moved from NY to NJ , he offered his help to move our things back and forth.  That was one of the many things he did willingly .  When we moved to West Orange (the same town where he resided with his family)   I remember  spending  family celebrations through the years. When his second wife Didi got sick in recent years, I would visit Didi and he was by her side constantly  inspite of his tri-weekly dialysis   If I couldn’t bring my cooked food for Didi, he was ever willing to pick them up for her.  He was a loving father, husband, brother, grandfather, cousin and friend.   Sadly, he didn’t have a chance to enjoy his two new great grandchildren, born while he was in Batangas.  He was very much a part of our lives both  in Batangas and in New Jersey and will miss his constant presence in family  and Batangueno gatherings.   Rest in peace dear Atot.  May you fly high with the angels into God’s welcoming embrace.   Rest well  and be at peace, finally.
