Jim was born in Orange, New Jersey, to his parents Crescenzo and Josephine (Granducke) Lepore. He graduated from Orange High School in 1958 and proudly joined the United States Navy that same year. He later continued his education at William Paterson University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Jim established a dedicated career in law enforcement, serving as a Police Officer with the Millburn Police Department for more than 20 years. After retiring from the department, he continued serving the community through his work with the Millburn Board of Education for nearly 20 years.
He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and several other local organizations. Growing up in leaner times, Jimmy learned early on how to stretch a dollar—and then stretch it again for good measure. His family lovingly teased him for his legendary ability to make a penny last far longer than anyone thought scientifically possible, extending even to his funeral arrangements, which he pre-paid.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Jacqueline Ann Lepore.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and John Raite, and their son, Christopher; and by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Susan Lepore, and their children, Crescenzo, Alicia, and Nicholas. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren—each one a bright spot in his life—as well as his loyal dog, GinGin—an even brighter spot in his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mount Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ 07039, with a Prayer Service to follow at 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in his name to Home For Good Dogs in Berkeley Heights, NJ.
