Emery Milan Vitez Jr “Butch” died suddenly on Saturday October 28th in Hackensack, NJ at the age of 59. Emery is survived by his daughter Alexis, son Emery III (EJ), daughter-in-law Leah, grandson Emery IV, siblings John, Patty, Suzanna and Julie, and many extended family members. Emery is predeceased by his mother Patricia Vitez, father Emery Vitez and niece Christina Azzarella.
Emery was born on April 7th 1958 in Hackensack NJ, and grew up in Washington Township.
He worked for many years as an oil deliveryman for Dowling Fuel, and most recently as the department manager. Emery loved spending time at Demarest Farms where he worked part time primarily making donuts, but always happy to lend a helping hand wherever needed. Emery enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and cherished sharing the things he loved with his first grandson, such as riding his quad and teaching him how to outsmart his parents.
Emery was loved by all and known wherever he went. He was always willing to help anyone any time it was needed; he was the kind of guy who would have what someone needed 10 minutes before they needed it.
A casual gathering to celebrate his life will be held at Demarest Farms, Hillsdale, NJ, on Saturday November 4th from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the ALS Foundation, as it is a cause that both EJ and Alexis hold close to their hearts and is affecting friends that they love dearly.
