

Gene was born on July 13,1956 in Newark, NJ, to parents, George and Eileen (Divine) Nann. He graduated from Irvington High School in 1974. He continued his education, graduating from Kean College, in Union, NJ with a degree in Education. He was also awarded the D’Angola Award at Kean College for best all-around college athlete. Gene went on to establish a career as a Physical Education Teacher, working for Elizabeth Public School District, where he coached football. He also coached lacrosse at Morristown Beard School. He was very proud of his coaching accomplishments, winning many state championships, up until his retirement in 2017. Gene was an avid sports and nature photographer. After retirement, he collaborated with sideline chatter website where he covered high school sports photos, both publishing and winning awards on his photography.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and James Nann. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Karen (Stroup) Nann; his children, Colleen (Nann) Monaco and Nicholas, Patrick and wife Kelly Bomzer; four beloved grandchildren, Nina Monaco, Devon Monaco, Connor Nann, and Keira Nann; and brother Richard and wife Cindy Nann; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend Eugene’s visitation on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mount Pleasant Ave, Livingston, NJ 07039, with a small Prayer Service at 7:30 PM until 8:00 PM. A final viewing will occur Friday, February 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E Mount Pleasant Ave, Livingston, New Jersey 07039, with a Committal Service to follow at 11:15 AM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ 07936.
