

Keith Doyle, 91, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in Livingston, NJ. Born in Curtis, Nebraska, Keith was a longtime resident of Livingston. He attended the University of Nebraska where he played football for one year, and won a Little All-American Award. He later attended the University of Miami and received his BA in History. He played football for Miami and served as a captain on the Orange Bowl Championship Team. He later earned his Master’s degree of Physical Education from Springfield College, and another Master’s in Administration from Kean University. He then coached and taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska Agricultural School, Wesleyan University, and Union College. Keith worked for many years in the West Orange School District. Through his career he served as the head coach for the football, track, and girls’ basketball team, and later served as the Assistant Athletic Director. Keith was also active in his career as an official and referee, working in baseball, softball, and track. He was the past president of the Essex County Coaches Association, the NJBUA, and worked for the Livingston Recreation Department as the swimming pool manager and sports coordinator.
Keith was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorothy. He is survived by his sons Gary and Kent, and his wife Jean. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Cory, Brittany, and Alan.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 27 from 2-5 & 7-9 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 28 at 11AM, with entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations in Keith’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
