Nancie was from Watertown Massachusetts, born to a mother who emigrated from Armenia as a young child and a doting father who was an expert diamond cutter, and from whom she inherited a lifelong passion for sparkly gems and beautiful clothes.
While still a teenager, Nancie caught the eye of a brash young Navy man at an Armenian social dance, and in their 58 years of marriage her striking beauty never dimmed in his adoring eyes. Harry and Nancie later moved to Scotch Plains, NJ with their young family and became active members of St. Mary Armenian Church. They never lost their affinity for Boston… nor quite lost their accents.
Nancie was the daughter of the late Onnig and Siranoush Ajamian and was predeceased by her brothers Haig and Richard. Nancie is survived by three children: John Papazian and his wife Carol; Holly Guber and her husband Tom; and Tom Papazian and his significant other Theresa Thibault.
Nancie was blessed with the love of four grandchildren: Alexis Zrike and husband Bill, Andrew Papazian and wife Becca, Greta Guber and fiance Justin Lefkowitz and Grace Guber. In May of last year, she was overjoyed to welcome the birth of great-granddaughter, Essie.
After raising their children, Nancie and Harry spent their golden years hunting estate sales for the many precious items that filled their museum-like home with treasures - and filled their lives with wonderful friends.
After the passing of the love of her life, Harry, in 2012, Nancie packed up her treasures and moved into a fabulous South Orange apartment; more recently she lived in the the single most ornate apartment ever seen at CareOne Assisted Living in Livingston, where she received the loving attention of a truly wonderful staff.
The family will receive friends at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., in Livingston on Sunday, January 21 from 3 to 7 PM. A service will be held at St. Mary Armenian Church, 200 W. Mt. Pleasant Ave. Livingston on Monday January 22 at 10 AM, with interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary Armenian Church Endowment Fund - Nancie Papazian, St. Mary Armenian Church, 200 W. Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston, N.J. 07039. https://secure.qgiv.com/for/endowmwntfund
