Sonia was a beautiful, caring, supportive, intelligent and strong mother who immigrated into the USA at 43 years old with her family to escape from the communist regime in their native land, Chile. She was an eternal student as she continued to achieve different careers and goals throughout her life journey. Through her actions, she inspired her children, instilled in them to not fear change and encouraged them to follow their dreams. She loved her family to a fault and always reminded them that, “In unity there is strength”, and above all, “Not to judge someone unless you had walked in their shoes.”
Sonia was a woman ahead of her time in Chile, riding a motorcycle at a young age and also becoming a business owner. Possessing a philanthropic heart, she volunteered her time to feed the poor and to teach less fortunate children how to read. Sonia made every person feel special as she treated everyone she came across with a deep sense of respect and appreciation. When in the USA, she continued her entrepreneurial efforts in cosmetology, and also was an aromatherapist, teacher and nurse. Sonia was a proponent of appreciating what you had, giving back to society and helping those that could not help themselves.
We will miss our mom terribly! May her soul rest in peace next to the ones she loves.
