Alice Jean Pfauth, born February 23, 1930, she passed on Wednesday, March 14th, 2018 from complications of colon cancer. She was 88. A long-time resident of Longmont, she is preceded by her husband of 61 years, Jeremy (Jerry) Joseph Pfauth. Survivors include her eight children, David (New York), Susan (Littleton), Dennis (Berthoud), Daniel (Glenwood Springs), Margaret (Fort Worth), Fritz (Scottsdale) Scott (Severance) and Pete (Brighton), additionally, there are 19 Grandchildren and great-grandchildren too numerous to count.
With eight children, the house was never empty and there was always something happening. Every kid in the neighborhood lived there and everyone called her mom. For as long as we can remember there was always a baseball team of kids running around, more people than chairs in the house and everyone welcome for dinner. She was mom or grandma to everyone, young or old, your child or hers.
She loved to cook, and everyone loved her cooking. As kids, we would wake up every Saturday morning to the smell of mom baking bread, cinnamon rolls, pies, cookies, and kraut burgers to name a few. All the kids would line up for hot buttered bread from the oven or we would sneak cookies to share with the neighbors, that cookie jar always had a cookie in it. Mom’s cooking was the best, never a leftover in the house.
Her career highlights many financial positions, becoming Vice President of Trust Company of America in Boulder CO. before retiring in her early fifties and moving to Red Feather Lakes where she and Jerry built several homes and enjoyed retirement in the mountains. Mom and Dad returned to Longmont 10 years later, wanting to spend more time with family.
Family was her focus and she was instrumental in the success of her children’s accomplishments all throughout her life. Her children would become business owners in 6 separate businesses and she was involved in every one of them. She would also own a business, spending her retirement years traveling the craft shows and fairs, selling cutlery and lotions, earning cash to see friends and traveling the world. Her love of travel would take her all over America, Alaska, Europe, China and Japan, just to name a few.
Her faith in God was truly undeniable. She was a member of Saint Stephens Episcopal Church in Longmont, was active in bible study, St. Cecilia's Guild, and volunteered her services to the church tirelessly. We are a bit jealous of God now, he has our mommy at his side! She truly is a Saint.
