Amy was born on November 23, 1954, in Manchester, Connecticut, to William Kranert Kilpatrick and Marjorie Emeline Shields.
She attended Miami Beach High School and later moved to the Longmont area in the 1970s, where she made her home for many years. Amy worked in retail for much of her career.
Amy was a woman of faith and was affiliated with the Old Southern Baptist church. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially cooking, decorating, and performing acts of kindness for others. Her thoughtful and giving spirit touched the lives of many.
She is survived by her husband, Chester Schafer; her mother, Marjorie E. Kilpatrick; and her sister, Kim E. Kilpatrick-Schaltenbrand. She is also survived by her nephew, Frederick W. Schaltenbrand III; her niece, Tiffany Kim Sizemore; and several great-nieces and great-nephews, including Frederick IV, Samuel, Amelia, Madeline, William, Emmalyn, Hailey, and Brandon.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Kranert Kilpatrick, and her brother, William C. Kilpatrick.
