Anthony DiGiallonardo was the son of Lewis and Theresa DiGiallonardo, born in Berwind, CO on January 9th, 1928. He was the second son of five: Domenic, Tony, Rocco, Louis and Sam. They were all raised in Frederick, CO.
After graduating he worked in the coalmines until he joined the Navy in 1946, stationed in Tsingtao, China as a radio operator. He was honorably discharged in 1948. On July 10, 1949 he married Patricia Ciocchetti. They raised 2 children, Toni Lynn and Mike. Tony worked many jobs ending at Rocky Flats in Research and Developing for 37½ years.
Tony’s greatest love was his family. He also loved his many, many friends and great neighbors. He is survived by his daughter Toni Lynn (Sam Cooley), and his son Mike (JoLynn), grandsons Matthew, Zachary (Jennifer), Joshua, Jacob, granddaughter Allyssa (Wade Kingsbury) and the apple of his eye, great grandson Mason. He is also survived by his sisters in law Dolores, Chris and Pat.
Tony and his good friend and golfing buddy, Lyle, loved getting their exercise in early, being the first on the golf course (weather permitting) to get their 11 holes in Monday thru Friday at Sunset Golf Course. Tony loved his neighbors and Dickens Court family, and was appointed Mayor of Dickens Court. Tony also said that as long as his neighbor, Karen, lived across the street he would never go hungry. And in fact, her lasagna was his last meal.
He was an honorary life member of the Longmont Elks Lodge. During that time he chaired many major committees and was Elk of the year in 1968. He was a long time member of St. John’s the Baptist Church. Donations can be made to the Longmont Elks (sickness and distress committee) or St. John’s (building committee).
Tony, Dad, Papa, golf partner, and friend will be greatly missed. His cheerfulness, even while sick, was truly inspiring to us all. His family would like to thank all of his wonderful caregivers from Nuclear Care Partners for taking such good care of Tony.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 16th from 4-6pm, followed by the rosary at 6:00 pm at Howe Mortuary. The funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 10:30 am, at St. John’s the Baptist Church in Longmont, followed by internment at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
