

Arlene was born on February 23rd 1931 in Manoa Pennsylvania where she lived before spending most of her formative years in Pennsauken New Jersey. On September 22, 1961 she married Walter Poplewko in Germantown, PA after meeting as members of the Pennsylvania Ski club.
In 1964 Arlene and Walt adopted their first son Gregory. Now a family of three, they moved from New York to Longmont, CO where they adopted their second son Michael in 1967.
Arlene and her family of four lived in Longmont for several years before moving to Tucson, AZ in 1979. The family moved back to Longmont in 1985 where she spent her remaining forty years. The family spent many weekends, summers and holidays traveling the country to ski, hike, and site see. When her and Walt retired they spent many years traveling the world and enjoying their time together.
Arlene held a number of different administrative positions in the town. Most notably she served six years at the Longmont Police Department. Arlene spent countless hours volunteering and giving back to the community through organizations like Meals on Wheels, the Alter Guild at St. Stephens, and the Senior Center of Longmont. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution as the Broomall family came to Pennsylvania with William Penn and fought in the Revolutionary War.
Arlene was very involved socially. She loved spending time with her sisters of the Red Hat Society and her sorority Beta Sigma Phi. As an avid knitter and quilter, Arlene created numerous articles of clothing, bedding, and decor. Many of these items have been donated to local charities while the rest continue to be well loved by friends and family.
Arlene is survived by her sister Lyn, son Greg, his wife Tricia, son Michael, and her 7 grandchildren and great grandchildren, Amber, Trevor, Connor, Nicole, Samantha, Ari and Milo.
A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, located at 1303 S Bross Ln, Longmont, CO 80501, United States. The service is scheduled for November 8, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
