Barbara Jean Layton

Barbara Layton, 73, of Longmont, CO passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at The Peaks Care Center.Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont with Pastor Rick Cross officiating. Share condolences at www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com . Barbara was born October 25, 1937, in Robstown Texas to William Arthur and Maggie Clifton. She later married Jim Layton. Barbara was employed by IBM for many years before retiring in 1987. She was an Officer with the Elks Ladies Auxillary in Texas after retiring. Barbara was a loving mother and wife; she enjoyed shopping, cooking, hosting parties and entertaining.She was preceded in death by her mother Maggie Clifton who passed away when Barbara was very young; parents Arthur and Vallie Clifton; and her husband Jim Layton. Survivors include her children: Pam Cleavenger and boyfriend Brett Lindsay of Firestone, Cindy Cole and husband Charles of Mississippi, James Robert Layton and wife Pat of Howe, Texas; Brenda Mabry and husband Ricky of Houston, Texas; Larry Murray of Conr , Texas; her brother Doyle Clifton and wife Virgie of San Angelo; her sister Billie DeCorte of Laguna Woods, California; nieces and aunts; and many grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
