We are sad to announce the passing of Barbara Lee Noakes of Longmont, on Saturday August 27, 2022 after a battle with cancer. She was born on January 21, 1941, Daughter of the late Peter and Eleanor Klok.
Barbara is survived by her Sister Mary Ellen Hamilton of Ft Washington, Maryland; Son Scott Noakes (Lorrie); Daughter Debbie Jellico and Grandchildren Brodie, Kayla and Dominick Jellico.
When Barbara was a teenager, she moved to Colorado with her family from Kalamazoo Michigan. She graduated from Arvada High School in 1959. After High School she married and settled in Longmont in 1969.
Barbara worked at Rocky Flats and Dow Chemical, then became a stay-at-home mom until her children were in High School. Barbara was hired at Edward Jones and AG Edwards, where she later retired after working full time for 20 years. She then worked part-time for local Longmont attorneys which was her favorite job.
Barbara then fully retired and began spending time at the Longmont Senior Center and was an active participant in the weekly card games such as Hand and Foot. She cherished and enjoyed all the friendships she made there over the years.
She loved to shop with her sister Mary Ellen, and they laughed a lot together. She spent a lot of time traveling, spending a month in Europe, and was never afraid to hop in the car and go on an adventure to California, Las Vegas, or the east coast. She loved to go to Rockies games and made several trips to training camp in Arizona.
Barbara can say it best in her own words: “I have had a beautiful life, done a lot of things I wanted to do. I joined bowling leagues, played softball, and played cards. I have gone to my kids and grandkids programs. Even though I’ve gone through a lot of physical problems – I would do it again. I love all of you.”
I Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Longmont Senior Center or Longmont Meals on Wheels in Barbara’s name
