

Barbara Lynn Steele passed away November 9, 2018 in Cozumel, Mexico. She was 69 years old.Barbara was born on June 25, 1949 in London, Ontario, Canada to Marjorie Kathleen McFadzean and Edward Barr Claxton. In 1958 she moved to the Toledo, OH area with her family. She graduated from Sylvania High School in 1966. She received her Bachelors degree in teaching from the University of Toledo in 1970.She then followed in her mum's footsteps and became a teacher. She taught for three years in Toledo before moving west to Colorado. She ended up in the Longmont area and started a very long career teaching at Hygiene Elementary. While teaching she touched the lives of many of her students and made countless friends. She even earned a spot in the national book Who's Who Among American Teachers.Barb loved the outdoors, spending time with her family, hiking and exploring new places with her husband John. She loved kayaking and was an avid reader. Barb loved collecting art, morning walks with her walking group and bowling with her bowling league. She was also an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed identifying them.She was preceded in death by her mother and father.Barbara is survived by her husband John; her sisters Patricia (Jim) Croninger and Kimberly McKnight; her sons Tyler (Tawnya) White and Noah (Becky) Steele; her daughters Nicole (Shayne) Kawana and Kimberly (Ian) Nordeck; eight grandchildren; and two nieces and one nephew.Memorial service 11:00am Tuesday November 20, 2018 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
