Betty Mae Vendel

Betty Mae Vendel, beloved mother, went joyfully into the arms of her Savior March 30, 2012. She was 88.Betty was born February 2, 1924 in Oak Park, IL to William and Mary (Mintrup) Jaeger. She grew up in Oak Park and received her RN degree from West Suburban Hospital in Chicago, IL before moving to Boulder, CO for additional training.She married Donald H. Vendel October 3, 1947 in Boulder. She worked at Boulder Memorial Hospital and as a public school nurse prior to the birth of her four children, when she became a stay at home wife and mother. The family moved to Wisconsin when Don retired in 1975, to enjoy a little country living. They moved back to Colorado in 1977, making Longmont their hometown.Betty attended Grace Evangelical Free Church in Longmont. She enjoyed china painting, reading, gardening, singing, and playing the piano and organ. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 1990; her parents; and two sisters.Betty is survived by her four daughters Heidi (Kevin) Moxness of Milnor, ND, Ivy (Bobb) Johnston of Berthoud, Vicki (Jim) Bundy of Berthoud, and Dawn (Mark) Burke of Longmont; 12 grandchildren Luke, Cari, Levi, Kellie, Daniel, Jamie, Rachel, Rebecca, Katy, Josh, Cullen, and Alana; one great-granddaughter Madison; and one sister.In Thy presence is fulness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11We'll miss you Mama, but are rejoicing with you! We'll see you in the morning!Private family graveside services will be held. Interment at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder.
