Byron D. Schwander, 80, died December 5, 2010 at his home. He was born on April 16, 1930 in Oak Park, Illinois. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy. Byron moved to Boulder in 1968 from Illinois and then to Longmont in 1979. He was married to Monna L. Schwander from 1952 until her death in 1986. Byron then married Mitte Andersen in 1987. Byron was a carpenter until his retirement in 1986 and will be remembered as a craftsman. He enjoyed archery, black powder rifles, golfing, and fly fishing. He is survived by his loving wife, Mitte Andersen; three sons, Mike E. Schwander, Jeff D. Schwander, and Tim J. Schwander; a daughter, Alletha Troxel; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held from 3-6PM on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Izaak Walton Clubhouse, 18 S. Sunset Street in Longmont. Cremation will take place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties and mailed to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
