Carey Edmunds Hovestol, 67, passed away peacefully at her Longmont, Colorado home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
Carey was born in Richmond, Virginia on March 23, 1955, one of three daughters born to Henry Edmund and Mary Elizabeth (Cook) Redd. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College and then her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Women’s University. Carey married Thomas Hovestol on June 23, 1979 and together they raised three daughters and two sons. The Hovestol family relocated from Houston, Texas to Longmont in 1990.
Carey was a Registered Nurse, working most recently at the Veterans Administration Hospital. She was a woman of great faith and an active member of Longmont Calvary Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Carey was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
Carey is survived by her husband Tom, sons Nathan Hovestol and Seth Hovestol (Jessica), daughters Christina Bryant (Iain), Susanna Meringola (Marshall) and Priscilla Dodsworth (Brandon), sisters Mary Louise Smith (Hubie) and Elizabeth Cook Bromstrup (Brent), and by her grandchildren, Brielle, Evangeline & Avonlea Bryant, Hudson, Genevieve & Grant Meringola, and Silas, Emmaline, Ainsley, Boden, Liam & Judah Dodsworth. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Redd.
Carey was laid to eternal rest in a private Graveside Service at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. A Memorial Service was held at Longmont Calvary Church on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
