Carol Johnson passed on April 6, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 19, 1939, in Michigan to Joseph Durbin and Ruth Manley, Carol committed herself to her country early in life by joining the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18, right after graduating from high school in Kansas. On October 16, 1958, she married Andrew Johnson. The couple moved from the Denver area to Longmont in 1970, where Carol balanced raising her four children with an extensive history of community involvement.
Carol was a tireless contributor to her community through her career as a Professional Volunteer and serving as a member of the local PTA, the volunteer fire department Ladies Auxiliary, and Mead Youth Sports Association. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was affiliated with both St. John the Baptist and St. Francis of Assisi. An avid fan of Colorado sports, Carol also found joy in gardening, writing, her pinochle club, and supporting organizations like the Humane Society and the ASPCA.
She is survived by her son, Timothy Johnson; her daughters, Alice Johnson-Wellems and Andrea Johnson-Navarro; and her sisters, Linda Kimball, Diana Fencil, Sharon Amsinger, and Beverly Frost. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren, Andrew, Austin, Brad, Ryan, and Emmie, and her five great-grandchildren, Roxanne, Eleanor, Lola, Millie, and Mabel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Andrew Johnson, her brother, Robert Durbin, and her sister, Debbie McNair, her son Ryan Johnson, and her grandson Matthew Johnson.
Carol left a strong legacy of service, family devotion and faith. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
A graveside service will be held at Foothills Gardens of Memory, 14241 N 107th St, Longmont, CO 80504, on April 13, 2026 at 11:00am. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined.
