

Charlotte Dalton Lacopo, 87, of Boulder, Colorado, passed away on April 13, 2023, of natural causes. Charlotte was born in Manhattan, NY, on February 16, 1936, and grew up in Morningside Heights (West 118th Street). She attended PS 165 and Commerce High School, graduating two years early and attending St. Luke’s School of Nursing at 16 years of age.
In 1956, she met Mike Lacopo. They were married on June 11, 1960. Charlotte partnered with Mike to raise four children in households built on the values of compassion and education (and excellent Italian and Lebanese food), in Mineola, NY, in Bergen County, New Jersey, where she was an ICU nurse at Englewood Hospital, and in New Orleans, LA. She and Mike were champions of diversity and community in all the places they worked, from Columbia University to Horace Mann School to Isidore Newman School (and places in between and after).
During her Boulder years, Charlotte was a Friend of the Colorado Music Festival. She volunteered for causes, politicians and organizations she was passionate about, including the Boulder Community Food Share and Boulder Community Hospital. She also served on the board of their HOA in Gunbarrel. She loved to play Bridge. She loved Patrick Mahomes and Steph Curry. She loved Italian mystery novels, Cafe Blue, good wine and good friends.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Frederick Hill, her daughter, Claudia, her son Mike, her daughter-in-law Sara, her nephew Bill, her sister-in-law Barbara, her parents-in-law Michael and Verna, her brother-in-law John and her daughter-in-law’s father, Jim Kelley. She is survived by her husband, Mike, her brother, Bill, her sons Jay and Chris, her grandson, Jack, her sisters-in-law Sylvia and Vickey, brother-in-law Matt, nieces Susie, Claudia, Stacey, Mary, Caren, nephew Evan, and their families. She is survived also by Craig Hafner, Patricia Kelley, Margot Kelley, David and Phoebe Kelley, Wendell and Tim Pohlman, and their families. Charlotte will be missed and fondly remembered by her wonderful group of friends, both in the Boulder area and around the country.
A celebration of life for Charlotte will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, Colorado 80501.
