Corrine S. Lewis

Corrine Ardis (Senning) Lewis of rural Longmont was reunited with her late husband, Ernest H. Lewis on Friday, May 12, 2023. Our Dear Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt was fourteen days short of celebrating her 105th Birthday.

Born on May 26, 1918 to Allie Samantha Henson and Roy Sam Senning of Washington, Indiana. Corrine grew up in Indiana, graduated from Washington High School in 1935 where she met her husband; Ernest; they were married May, 21 1939. Corrine and Ernie worked years together on the farms in Martin County and Greenfield, Indiana before moving to Colorado in 1953. Arriving in Colorado, she lived in Denver and Arvada before purchasing an 80-acre farm in 1967, Mead, CO.

Corrine’s sharp attention to detail and strong work ethic allowed her success in several accounting roles as an Accounting Manager, Bookkeeper, Payroll and Insurance Processor. She retired in 1981, as an Accountant from Parker Hannifin Corporation. Corrine considered community one of life’s great joys. Fellowship was found among her church’s Ladies Aide members and as a devoted member of the Mead United Methodist Church for over 35 years. She formed strong bonds attending Senior Center projects and luncheons.

Days were filled with delight as Corrine enjoyed the beautiful mountain views and changing seasons experienced in Colorado. She was an avid rose, flower, and vegetable gardener. She created, designed, and sewed awe-inspiring quilts, a skilled seamstress of horse show riding attire, clothes for family, upholstery, and home décor. She enjoyed vacations visiting family in Washington and Indianapolis, IN. Spent years of motorhome traveling to Arabian horse shows supporting Ernie as he was awarded innumerable ribbons and trophies.

Corrine was preceded in death by her 4 sisters Vivian Harker, Delavinia Fallett, Mary Ruth Fyffe, and Geraldine Harris.

Corrine is survived by a brother Friedman Senning residing in Evansville, Indiana. Children: Pauletta K. Benedict and Lynn R. (Linda) Lewis; 5 Grandchildren, Lynn (Rhonda) Lewis II, Terry (Shannon) Lewis, Kristi (Troy) Miller, Kolby (Alicia) Giberson, Karla (Ken) Hills; 8 Great-Grandchildren, Amanda (Aaron) Wagner, Seth (Brittany) Lewis, Caid Miller, Shaye Miller, Kira Hills, Karson Hills, Brodie Lewis, Joelle Lewis, and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Here’s to hoping heaven is filled with beautiful gardens of roses and pink peonies, with a bountiful Thanksgiving dinner served with oyster stuffing where Corrine is reunited with loved ones waiting with open arms.

A Celebration of Life for Corrine will be held Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Howe Mortuary's St. Vrain Room, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. A reception will follow.
