Danny Gerald Smith

Danny was born on July 10, 1957, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Harold Smith and Doris Thompson Smith. He later earned his GED through the State of Georgia in 1984 and continued his education at San Diego Community College in 1994.

Danny proudly served his country in the United States Army. He carried the same dedication to serving others later in his life, giving back to his community as a volunteer with the Longmont Emergency Unit.

In 1996, Danny moved to the Longmont area from San Diego, California. Danny and Carol Ann began their life together on May 3, 2001, and were united in marriage on November 12, 2010.

He worked in carpet sales and installation and owned Idea’s Unlimited. He also obtained NOV and NGL oilfield certifications, held a Class A commercial driver’s license, and worked for Smucker’s. He had been looking forward to retirement.

Danny embraced life fully and enjoyed all it had to offer. He loved riding his Harley, listening to all kinds of music, attending concerts, fixing cars, building and tinkering on projects, traveling, and hiking. Above all, Danny treasured time with family, helping others, and appreciating life’s simple gifts, especially sunrises and sunsets.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann Smith of Longmont, Colorado; sons, Nathan Smith of Ringgold, Georgia, Nikolas Harper of Longmont, Colorado, Blaze Smith of Longmont, Colorado, and Orion Smith of Longmont, Colorado; grandson, Ethan Smith of Ringgold, Georgia; brothers, Jeff Smith of Longmont, Colorado and Mike Smith of LaFayette, Georgia; and sister, Carol Gonzales of LaFayette, Georgia.

Memorial contributions may be made in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel to Carol Ann Smith.

A celebration of life is to be announced at First Evangelical Lutheran Church at 803 3rd Ave, Longmont, CO 80501.
