Dave Fobes passed away July 19, 2017. He was born on January 29, 1956 to Robert Fobes and Mary Madden in Marysville, Kansas. On June 19, 1982, he married Cindy Marie Cox and made their home in Longmont. They recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. They have two beautiful sons Joshua David and Jason Allen, who he adored and were the love of his life. Dave put them before all else and would have done anything for those boys.
In his career and life, Dave was highly valued and known for his honesty and integrity. He even made T-shirts for the boys baseball team with the saying “Good enough, isn’t.” which stuck with them all through the years. He definitely didn’t mince words.
Dave enjoyed keeping in shape, fly fishing, traveling, hunting pheasant, golfing, and projects around their house as well as the houses of the boys. But he was never happier than when he was playing with Jake, their 8-year old black lab, who loved his dad, Dave, more than anything in the world. He will miss him so much, as we all will.
Dave graduated from Longmont High school in 1974, then the University of Southern Colorado (Now CSU-Pueblo) in 1978, with a degree in Education. Dave retired from Oracle after 30+ years and was really enjoying life. He was a golf marshal at Sunset Golf Course, as a fun retirement job that allowed him to play as much golf as he wanted. Dave was enjoying a great day of golf with good friends before passing of a massive heart attack. He was a loving and somewhat obstinate person, and will be missed by all who were touched by his genuine spirit.
Dave is survived by his wife, Cindy; their 2 children, Josh (Sarah) and Jason (Leanne); brothers and sisters, Steve (Deb), Julie (Mike), Jan, Tom, and Tim (Sharon); brother-in-law Mike Cox (Jane); 9 Nieces and Nephews, James, Jonathan and Kevin Fobes, Matthew and Katie Dudek, Ryan and Kelly Fobes, and Alexis and Michael Cox. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Fobes; in-laws, James and Mary Ellen Cox.
Dave spent his fun-loving nature and gentle spirit providing great wisdom and genuine security to all he encountered throughout his life - from work relations to friends, family, and most certainly his children. He will be dearly missed and remembered always. A celebration of his life will be held at the Fobes family home on Sunday July 23rd, 2017 from 1-4 pm. There will be no funeral service and inurnment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please bring a card or letter filled with stories or memories that we can share as a family and hold in our hearts forever.
