
Born April 22, 1957 in Alton, IL to the late Bill Stutzman and Josephine Sisson (nee Rallo). Chris grew up in Southern Illinois attending Our Lady Queen of Peace School, Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto and Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. In his youth Chris was very active in Boy Scouts and it helped cement his love of the outdoors.
Chris fell in love with Colorado and moved here in 1981. He co-owned Pratt & Stutzman Painting in Longmont, CO with his long time friend, OJ Pratt. He maintained Stutzman Painting until a few years ago when health issues forced his retirement.
Chris was enthralled with the Colorado wilderness. He climbed many 14,000 foot peaks, often solo. He skied, camped and fished all over Colorado. In his last years he spent countless hours volunteering at the Yesteryear Farm Show. A few moments of conversation is all it took to appreciate his vast knowledge and love of antique farm machinery, steam engines and trains.
Chris is survived by his mother, Josephine Sisson, of Bunker Hill, IL. A brother, Jimmy Stutzman lives near Holiday Shores, IL. His sister, Anne Renarde, lives on an island off the coast of Maine. Two step-sisters- Robin (John) Carlson of Edwardsville, IL and Pam (Ron) Foster of Alton, Il. Two step-brothers – Jim (Jody) Bosomworth of Godfrey, IL and Michael (Laura) Bosomworth of Oneida, IL.
Preceding Chris in death were his father, Bill and step-mother Betty. His step-father, John Sisson, Sr. A sister, Lori Stutzman and a step-brother, Pat Bosomworth.
His cremation was entrusted to Howe Mortuary, Longmont, CO. and his internment will be at the Woodlawn Hills Cemetery, Wood River, IL.
A memorial service will be held at the Pacific Event Center, 1330 Main Street, Longmont, CO on Thursday August 30, 2012 at 6:00 pm. Attendees are invited to bring something for the potluck dinner and your favorite stories to share.
