Deborah Jone Price Combs (Debbie) was a Christmas baby born on 12/25/49 in Oakland CA to Alfred and Iona (Chris) Price. She grew up in West Springfield, VA and attended Old Dominion Univ. She later moved to Fort Collins CO, received her journalism degree at CSU, which is where she met her husband of 32 years, Ted Combs. Debbie and Ted settled in Longmont where she obtained her nursing degree at Regis College in Denver. They both love Longmont and have lived there since 1986.
Debbie had a big heart and was always concerned about the less fortunate among us. She especially loved animals and in particular cats. She was as always ready to help by adopting or donating. NoTail (the fat cat) will miss her.
Debbie loved people watching and laughing. She had a wonderful sense of humor, so much so that her brother Craig encouraged her to write a book on many occasions. Her mother agrees that Debbie was always a character. Craig stated, ""She had a natural and funny outlook"". Her sister Karla will cherish all the conversations they had when they laughed and laughed.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Samuel Theodore Combs (Ted) of Longmont, her mother Iona Chris Price of Fernandina Beach, FL, her sister Karla Price of Gainesville, FL and her brother Craig Price (wife Leslee) of San Leon, TX.
Her mother, sister and brother and sister-in-law would like to thank Ted for his faithful and loving support. “It was a comfort to us to know that he was there to take such good care of her. She often said she didn't know what she would do without him.”
Debbie’s husband Ted quotes Henry David Thoreau: “I know of but one or two persons with whom I can afford to walk”… For Ted, Debbie was the one and they did walk. She was the definition of unique.
Debbie was very much loved by her family and friends and she will be missed beyond words. She passed away Thursday, October 2, at the University Of Colorado Hospital Anschutz Medical Campus. In lieu of flowers, Debbie would prefer that you donate to the Longmont Humane Society www.longmonthumane.org.
