It is with a heavy heart we announce that, after a two-year, well-fought battle with cancer, our beloved Del has gone home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 24th. Born July 18, 1944 in Mancos, Colorado, Del built his life in Longmont where he was an active and very well loved member of the community. He was the proud founder of Del's Masonry, and he both thought of and treated his crew as members of his extended family, alongside whom he was out in the trenches every single day. In addition to his passion for his work, Del always loved a good adventure and spent his time with his family and friends vacationing, going on summer motorhome and 4-wheeling trips, boating, bicycling, and singing karaoke. He was famous for his annual 4th of July fireworks show, which he also loved to display periodically throughout the year. He loved to throw a good party, and with Del, it always was the-more-the-merrier. Del is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Kathy; they have adored each other for 27 years of marriage. He is also survived by his nine children, who cherished him deeply: Bobby Ewing, Kimberly Hubbard (Paul), Jeff Ewing, J Cooper (Shanon), Tanya Fittz (Tyler), Sean Ewing, Shane Ewing (Brooke), Courtney Ewing, and Nicole Ewing (Garrett Rivero); by four sisters and three brothers; nine beautiful grandchildren who loved their Papa Del, and by countless people whom he has taken under his loving wing and treated as his own. We are left with the joyful reminder of Life is short, eat dessert first, a motto by which Del lived out daily. We love Del more than anything in the world, and we will miss him everyday of our lives. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Flatirons Community Church, 355 W. South Boulder Rd., Lafayette, CO 80026. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation online to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to the Boulder Community Health Foundation, Integrative Care Program, Tebo Cancer Center, P.O.
