He attended Arvada High School, and later worked in the automotive industry for most of his working life. He proudly volunteered for the Arvada Fire Department for many years. He spent the later part of his life as a care giver for his parents and, in so many ways, for his entire family. “D” was always available.
He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He attended a lot of their sports events and loved sharing his sweet tooth stash with them; he always had a bag of candy. He made numerous trips with them to the little pond by the local school to feed the geese. Taught a few of them to skip rocks or climb trees. Always, always sharing his tall tales with them.
He had a quick wit and always made a heavy situation lighter. Even on his deathbed he joked and teased with his visitors and those who were tending to him. He entertained his guests with the theme song to the movie, Never Ending Story! Stor-RE!
His hobbies included: drumming, gardening, and building models. He loved his Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. During his brief stay in Arizona he enjoyed the Arizona Diamondbacks and Arizona Cardinals.
He hated all milk products but loved ice cream. His favorite place to eat was Red Lobster for crab legs. He always asked for a bib before cracking the shells and insisted the only way to eat them was with tons of butter.
In the end, cancer took his life but never his kind hearted spirit. Dennis will be forever remembered as a loving, gentle spirited brother and uncle. He lived life to its fullest in those early years and paid the price in the end. It’s his Stor-RE!
