

Don was born in Winfield, Kansas to Harold and Neva Troup. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1950 and attended Wooster College 1950-1954, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry. He then entered the United States Army where he was stationed in Texas from 1954- 1956. Upon his return, he completed his graduate work at Kansas University. He worked for Humble Oil from 1957-1962. He then became a chemist for Great Western Sugar from 1963- 1968. It was then he realized he was interested in working for himself and purchased a Dairy Queen in Greeley Colorado. He and his wife Judy owned and operated the Dairy Queen from 1962-1974.
He moved with his family to Anaheim, California to fulfill a lifelong desire to attend Melodyland Theology School. He graduated with a Master of Theology in 1978. He accepted a pastoral position for a church in Niwot, Colorado, which later merged with the Foursquare Church of Longmont. During that time frame he began Troup Enterprises, a cleaning service for homes and businesses. He retired in 2016 at 84 years of age.
Don married Judith Ann Tibbens on June 21,1958 in Tulsa Oklahoma. They had four children, Ron, Nancy, Rick and Julie.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Neva Troup, his brother Ken Troup, his wife Judy Troup and his grandson Nathaniel Olander.
Don is survived by his 4 children: Ron (Mary) Troup, Nancy (Randy) Olander, Rick Troup and Julie Folden. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Valerie Godsey, Megan (Ray) Landin, Zachary
(Bree) Olander, Lindsey (Jason) Reeves, Liza Olander, Jonathan (Megan) Troup, Stephan (Rachel) Troup, Lauren (Nick) George, Chad Folden, Tyler Folden, and 9 great-grandchildren. Also, his sister-in-law Connie Troup and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Donald will be held Friday, July 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM at The River Community Church, 18668 N. Saint Vrain Drive, Lyons, CO 80541.
