A lifelong Coloradan, Doris was deeply passionate about preserving and perpetuating the pioneer heritage of her beloved state. In 1962, she joined the Territorial Daughters of Colorado, where she served with great dedication, fulfilling two terms as President and two terms as Treasurer. Her commitment to community and history extended to many organizations. In 1965, she joined Royal Neighbors, serving two terms as President. She also generously volunteered her time with the Saint Vrain Historical Society at Old Mill Park and the Fort Lupton Historical Park for several years.
Doris held leadership roles as both President and Secretary of the St. Vrain Pioneer Association and was also an active member of the Platte Historical Society. Through her efforts, she helped ensure that the stories and spirit of Colorado’s early settlers were preserved for future generations.
