Doyle Nichols

Walter Doyle Nichols, 89, of Longmont passed away June 21, 2017. He was born August 17, 1927 in Bainbridge, Indiana to Harvey Cecil and Lola Edna (Proctor) Nichols.Doyle graduated from Bainbridge High School; he started farming and later went to work for International Harvester Tractor Co. Doyle married Coleen Phillips on July 21, 1950 in Morocco, Indiana.Doyle went to work for IBM in 1956 and retired in 1990. During that time he worked in Greencastle, IN, Sherman, TX, Grandview, MO, Concord, MA, Dayton, NJ, Boca Raton, FL and Boulder, CO.He was a member of Campfire National and Farm Bureau. He was involved in Christian churches as a deacon and choir member in all the communities he lived. He enjoyed singing, working with youth, gardening, travel, puzzles, games and printing.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Herschel and Robert.Doyle is survived by his wife Coleen, three daughters; Loretta Kay Chapa (Teofilo), Cathy Lee Nichols and Donna Ellen Nichols (John Hackman), a brother Dallas Wayne Nichols, sisters; Lucile Burkett and Edith Fry (Noble), grandchildren Stephanie Fletcher (Jim), Kelley Williams (Shaun), Christopher Kopp (Darci), Charlotte Chapa and Robert Kopp (Alex), as well as seven great grandchildren.Memorial service will be held 10 am Monday June 26, 2017 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Inurnment will be at a later time at Fillmore Cemetery in Fillmore. Indiana.
