

E. Hadley Stuart, Jr. passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 9, 2009, at his home in Longmont, CO. He was surrounded by his family, friends and dogs at the time of his death. He was 91 years old.He was born July 12, 1917, in Seattle, WA and grew up in Washington and Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. He attended Cheshire Academy in Connecticut, the University of Virginia, and Harvard Business School. In December 2007, he received an honorary Doctorate from Colorado State University.He worked for the Carnation Milk Company and married Marion Butler in 1946 and had three children, Bridge, Brett and Nan. They had been married for 54 years when she passed away in 2000. In 1967 he moved to a ranch near Bellevue, Idaho where he was a cattle rancher. He came to Longmont, CO in 2002 where he lived next door to his daughter, Nan.Hadley was a wonderful, vibrant, unique and gentle person most known for his full head of beautiful white hair, his brilliant blue eyes, and his sense of humor. He suffered a stroke in 2005, but still led an active life. He loved all animals especially dogs and horses, fishing, hunting, raising orchids and being outdoors.He is survived by two sons, a daughter, and five grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held in July in Longmont. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that a memorial contribution be made in Hadley's memory to Code 3 Associates, P.O.
