Elena Medina

She moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1963. In 1970, while working on a television set, she met Miguel Medina and they have been together since. They were officially married in 1985.

Elena and Miguel moved to the Longmont area in July 1974 from Chicago with their large extended family. In 1977 they established and opened Casa Medina. Elena also worked at Safeway and Albertson’s where she made many friends in the community. Mom also served as a volunteer at Longmont United Hospital for many years.

Mom loved walking around McIntosh Lake and taking her grandchildren to the park. She was very proud of her home and loved gardening and taking care of her beautiful roses. She was an avid Colorado Rockies fan and not only enjoyed going to games, but both Mom and Dad were friends with several players and would invite them to dinner for traditional Puerto Rican home cooking. Everyone knew of Mom’s cooking! While they managed Casa Medina, Mom and Dad enjoyed their annual merchandise shows in Las Vegas. Mom also had a love for music including, Elvis Presley, Kenny Rogers, Los Bukis, Musica Tropical and of course all Salsa and Merengue. When out of state family would visit, Mom would always want to take them to the mountains. Her favorite places were Estes Park, Trail Ridge Road (not driving), Mother Cabrini Shrine and Central City.

Children: Jose Miguel. And was also loving Mother to Anna, Gloria, Jose L., Mario, Victor, Danny, Rosa, Michael, Edwin and Marisol.

Sisters: Angelina, Rosa, Maria, Evelyn, Lydia, Iris

Grandchildren: Tegan and Aven. And was also a loving Grandmother to Tanya, Brandi, Timothy, Joseph, Nicholas, Christopher, Danielle, Anthony, Amy and many more.

A memorial service for Elena will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado.
