Age 86, of Lusk, Wyoming passed away at Niobrara Health and Life Center assisted care unit. She was born November 12, 1934 to Frank and Frances Edwards Snyder. She was the youngest of nine children. Beth was born and raised north of Longmont CO. She loved riding the family horse Merry Legs. When the family moved to a farm west of Niwot by Haystack Mountain she rode behind the cattle so they could eat the grass along the road. Beth had many great memories of playing with dolls and riding horses with her siblings. Times were hard and Beth and each of her siblings were expected to help on the farm, doing chores and milking the cows.
Elizabeth or Beth as family and friends called her graduated from Longmont High School. On September 19, 1954 she married the love of her life Ronald M. Allen. They were married 66 years and had four children together. Beth spent many years helping Ron farm. They often took the time to go fishing with family usually in the evenings after a hard day’s work. They planted a large garden every year and Beth spent hours canning the harvest which they enjoyed through the winter months. After farming Ron and Beth took jobs in Niwot working as custodians at the grade school until Beth was offered an opportunity to accept a job as bookkeeper at the Career Development Center in Longmont, Co. She retired in 1992. After retirement Ron and Beth spent time traveling to see their kids and families, as well as traveling to different states in their motorhome. If one of their kids needed help they would always drop what they were doing and immediately pack a suitcase and head wherever needed.
Beth lived her entire life in the Longmont area until her struggled with Alzheimer’s forced Ron and Beth to make a decision to move closer to their oldest daughter Ronda. This move allowed Ron the help he needed to care for Beth. He was able to visit the care center and spend a great deal of time with his Bethie. The staff would enjoy watching them nap together, hand in hand.
What do you say about someone who was always the most essential part of your world, the one who took you by the hand and showed you the way? The one who stood by you and helped you grow. Providing love, strength, and support so you could become the person you are today.
Her love was never ending. Her memory will live on inside each of us as we continue to raise our children and that in itself is priceless. She left her mark on the world by the way she lived and she made all the difference in the lives she touched. There are not enough words to express the wonderful influence she had in our lives and she will be dearly missed.
Beth was a member of Rocky Mountain Christian Church, was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and loved spending time with her family.
