Born in Middletown, CT June 20, 1930, Elizabeth, or Betty, considered Connecticut home. She grew up in Marlborough, CT, the eldest of Frederick and Caroline (Sibley) Isleib’s six children. She graduated as valedictorian from East Hampton High School in 1947 and served as a pharmacist in the US Army; recruited by her future husband of 53 years, Albert Damick, who preceded her in death in 2003.
She is survived by her sons Theodore (Susan) Damick and William Damick; sisters Miriam (Ed) Thomas and Priscilla (Joe) Mollick; brother Gordon (Christine) Isleib; grandchildren Daniel (Heather), Sarah, Elisabeth, Matthew (Allyson), Andrew (Nicole) Damick, and Bethany (Jason) Stewart; and her eleven great-grandchildren Peyton, Emily, Anastasia, Peter, Evangelia, Elias, Raphael, Iskander, Jonah, Sonja, and Gwendolyn.
Elizabeth was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Southington, CT for nearly 50 years where she taught Sunday School classes and Bible studies as well as promoted missionary outreach. In later years, she and her teddy bear Peter visited Albert’s nursing home regularly. Her hobbies included letter-writing on her typewriter to family and friends all over the world, birdwatching, reading, gardening, sewing, quilting, and Scrabble playing (which at times, according to her sons, was nearly a contact sport). She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Elizabeth considered it an honor to be a part of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s lives for so long. Her faith-filled wisdom will be something her family will miss.
In recent years, she retired to Longmont, CO, where she attended Grace Church and befriended those around her. From her banker, to caregivers, church members, and the residents she resided with at Hover Manor, Elizabeth considered them friends.
Memorial services for Elizabeth Damick will be held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel of Longmont, CO on June 19th, 2021 at 2 p.m., and at Faith Baptist Church of Southington, CT on July 10th, 2021 at 11 a.m. Graveside service and burial will be held July 12th, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Connecticut Veterans’ Cemetery in Middletown, CT.
