Eric Danforth Mudama

Eric Danforth Mudama, loving husband of Monique (Herman) Mudama, devoted son of Eric and Betsy (Eberle) Mudama of Scottsdale, AZ, brother to Sarah (Bruce) Huber of Granger, IN, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on February 16, 2018. He is also survived by his aunt Bicki Mudama of Scottsdale, a large extended family, and hundreds of friends and coworkers around the world. He absolutely adored his nieces and nephews and delighted in spending time with them. He was planning to teach his young nephew Andrew how to fly.Eric was always inquisitive. Starting at a very young age, he loved to build things, solve puzzles and problems, swim, and pretend he was flying. His fascination with flying began when he was four and a half years old and saw Star Wars for the first time. Last year, his dream became a reality when he became a pilot. He loved flying and earned his private pilot's license and instrument rating.Eric was also extremely accomplished in his career, where he achieved the level of Principal Engineer, Firmware Architecture at Intel designing next generation non-volatile memory products. He was committed to building cutting edge technology while also being incredibly dedicated to the people with whom he worked.Eric's friends loved his goofy sense of humor. He had a beautiful, boyish smile and gave his heart completely, whether to his wife, family, or friends. He loved technical challenges and was an unapologetic nerd. Most recently, in his free time he threw himself into developing airplane simulations on a system called DCS, which allowed him to combine his love of coding with his love of aviation. He worked with a team of fellow developers and designers to model realistic airplanes, including the Douglas A-4E Skyhawk. When Eric was passionate about something, his ability to focus, learn and excel was exceptional. In several online communities, including EverQuest, WoW, Eve, and the DCS simulator community, his friends knew him as Gospadin Peroda.Eric and Monique met through EverQuest, where they were both members of the guild Afterlife. They built a life together in Colorado, where they enjoyed skiing, sushi, and spending time with their dogs. Eric loved to snuggle and roughhouse with Cooper and Loki.Eric was an integral part of the Breckenridge lesson club, where he and Monique learned much about skiing and met many wonderful friends. Eric loved bombing down Horsesh Bowl, Contest Bowl, and C.J.'s, and he looked good doing it. Eric was born on July 4, 1974, in Boston, MA. With his family, he lived in Massachusetts, California, and Arizona. All through school, he excelled in academics, swim team, and music. In his senior year, he won the trophy for the best improvisation at the Toronto Festival for high school music students for an original piece he played on his trombone.He was proud to be a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received a degree in electrical engineering and computer science. In December 2000, he moved to Colorado to join Maxtor before being recruited to Intel.
