Erma Zancanelli, known as June to all who loved and knew her, was born on June, 19th, 1935, in Cameron, West Virginia. She was the youngest in her family, including Ruth, Wade (Ralph) and Harry Dee. Shortly after graduating from high school in 1953, she got on a bus and arrived in Denver, Colorado to live with her mother. She worked at multiple jobs and attended the Emily Griffith School. June then worked for AT&T as a telephone operator and receptionist.
On July 13, 1968 she married John (Jack) Zancanelli and moved to Westminster, Colorado. They were married for 39 years until his passing in 2007. June became a homemaker a few years after her daughters Jill and Joy were born. In 1974 they moved to Longmont, Colorado. June started taking care of children in her home. Many children came to her home for care beginning when they were infants until they were ready to leave elementary school. She loved every child she took care of as they were her own children and their families. She was always creating projects or activities to help them grow and learn. Summers were full of adventures going to parks in Longmont and the library. She joyfully did this until 1984.
In 1988 her mom moved in with her and Jack. June loved having her there and cared for her in her later years. She also cared for her grandchildren Dante, Jaedyn and Andrew when they were small.
In 2013 June moved from her house in the country to the city limits to be closer to her daughters Jill and Joy. Joy and her sons, Dante and Michael, lived with her there until the flood in September. After her house was repaired, June continued to live there by herself.
June loved being outside working in the yard and garden. She grew beautiful roses. June was also skilled at fixing things around the house and didn’t hesitate to tackle a project. Her life was simple, only doing things out of necessity or to care for others. June always approached each day with a positive attitude. Even after multiple falls and injuries she persevered. Her resilience, strength and faith will always be remembered.
June passed away at her home on December 14, 2025. She is survived by her daughters Jill Brown (David) and Joy Uhl and her grandchildren Dante, Jaedyn, Andrew and Michael. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband.
