

Farren Elwood, 73 of Longmont passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side on October 17, 2019. Farren was born January 17, 1946 in Brush, CO to Leonard and Helen (Nation) Elwood. He grew up in Lyons, CO and graduated from Lyons High School in 1964.On June 5, 1964 Farren married his high school sweetheart, Arlene Cink, in Boulder, CO. He attended Aims Community College and earned an associate's degree in Welding Inspection and Welding Instruction. Farren worked as an iron worker for most of his life and as a welding inspector for the original Denver International Airport until his retirement in 2013. Farren led the quality assurance efforts in the area of steel construction, shop and fabrication inspection and structural steel plan for all of Denver International Airport projects. In 2006 Farren received the National Dalton E. Hamilton CWI of the year award. He contributed greatly to the success of AWS Certified Welding programs locally, nationally and internationally.Farren was a longtime member of the CWI group. He enjoyed reading and hunting and was passionate about yard work. Farren was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dan Elwood and sister-in-law Darlene Bachy. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Arlene Elwood, a daughter, Tammy (Rick) Crowell of Mead, CO, two grandchildren; Kyle Crowell and Daniel Elwood, brother Len (Collen) Elwood of CA and sister, Patty Johns of CA as well as cousin, Myron (Lori) Elwood of Greeley, CO, nephews; Bob Bachy, Jr., and Dennis Bachy; great-niece, Sheena (Erick) Lovett and family, great-nephew, Denny (Erica) Bachy and family and a loving family friend, Colleen Divine. Farren dedicated his life to the care and well being of his family. His family was his world.A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23 at Lyons Cemetery.
