Florence Irene Kear

Florence Irene Kear died at her home in Erie, Colorado on Sunday, July 30, 2006. She was 76 years old.Florence was born July 19, 1930 in Hoxie, Kansas, to George and Katie (Robb) Weeks. She grew up in Hoxie and graduated from Hoxie High School in 1948.On January 1, 1955, Florence married Victor A. Kear in Goodland, Kansas. The couple made their home in the Denver area before moving to Erie in 1975.Mrs. Kear worked for 20 years as a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Erie until her retirement in 1998. She had been a member of the Arvada Garden Club and the Boulder Friends of Jazz. She was a talented gardener, and enjoyed dancing to big band music and attending Dixieland jazz concerts.Survivors include her sons, Scott Kear and his wife, Deanne, of Longmont, and Gary Waitman and his wife, Jackie, of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandsons, Daniel Lee and his wife, Casey, and Spencer Kear; and three great grandchildren, Jordynn, Avry, and Brooklyn.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 12, 1992; and a brother, Kenneth Weeks.Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary, Longmont.
