
November 22, 2009 saw the closing on a 74-year run of one of the most exciting and acclaimed Actor/Director in the Denver area. Frank ""F.J."" Georgianna took his final curtain call and passed away at home after a two-year challenge with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The theater was Frank's true passion. He appeared in 36 roles over the yearsand directed 5 plays in the 1985-1994 season at the DCTC, receiving several awards including 1988 Denver Drama Critics Circle for best director (The Price) and an honorary ""Excellence in the Arts"" citation from Governor Roy Romer in 1988.Frank was born June 28, 1935 in Boston, MA, then moved to Monmouth, IL as a young boy. He graduated from Monmouth High School and continued to Denver where he graduated from D.U. He then joined the Air Force and was stationed in Roswell, N.M. After the service, Frank went to New York and appeared in several plays where he met his wife Ernestine Haight who preceded him in death. They moved to Boulder and together gave birth to the Boulder Reparatory Company and up to 1996 were entertaining audiences wherever they could find a place to perform.Frank is survived by his mother Marie Smith, his brother Bob (Diane) Smith, his sister Trish (Pete) Daly, nephews Shane (Cathy) Kakevas and their two sons Nicholas and Kaleb and niece Breanna Smith.Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Service in Longmont.A ""Final Curtain Call"" celebration is planned for December 4, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Georgianna's home located at 2100 Andrew Alden St. (Prospect) Longmont.
