June 13, 2022.
Frank was born to Frank Sr. and Sarah Burton in Austin, Minnesota on January 24, 1935. He graduated from Austin High School, where he met the love of his life, Mary Jo Gunderson. He was drafted into the Army and spent 4 years serving his country, then returning to Rochester, Minnesota where he went to work at IBM as a Tool Maker. He packed up the family and moved to Colorado in 1966 and retired at the age of 52 from IBM in 1987.
After he retired, he and Mary Jo started to travel back and forth from Grand Lake, Colorado to Tucson, Arizona every year. They also loved taking trips to Austin, Minnesota for class and family reunions.
Through the years, Frank enjoyed skiing, volunteering at Colorado Rockies Spring Training and spending time with friends and family. He was known for his crazy sense of humor and telling stories over and over and over again. He was quick-witted and loved to make people laugh.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo and their daughter Nancy. Frank is survived by his brother Doug (Pat), his daughters Lisa (Scott) and Sue (Tom), and son David (Toni). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Nicole, Chrissy & Samantha, Shanna & Danielle, Dustin (Elizabeth) & Kelly (Pat), and Christian & Jordan, as well as his great grandchildren: Taylor, Ellie, Abby & Tucker.
Frank lost his battle to congestive heart failure. His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff at The Bridge and Life Care Center of Longmont for all their hard work and dedication to providing exceptional care.
In his memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Mary Jo Burton.
Friends and family are invited to join on Friday, July 1st at 2:00 p.m. at Howe Mortuary in Longmont, followed by a reception at the same location, to share happy memories and celebrate Frank's 87 years here on this earth in the way he would want to be remembered – as a friendly and funny guy who thoroughly enjoyed life.
