

Gail was born on July 25, 1937 in Clarkfield, Minnesota to Martin Oliver and Agnes S. (Holm) Erie. She grew up in Clarkfield and graduated from Clarkfield High School. Gail married Kenneth E. Kieffer in Granite Falls, Minnesota on November 11, 1955. The family moved to Boulder from San Diego, CA in 1964.
Family was very important to Gail. She loved her grand kids more than anything and had a close relationship with each one. She was proud of her Norwegian ancestry. She was also very proud of the service her brothers gave to our country during World War II.
Gail was a person who only saw the good in others and never had a harsh word about anyone. She was a “fixture” in the Firestone community and known as “mom” to many. She enjoyed spending time at the local coffee shops and created a very strong friendship with the patrons and entertainers who came into them. Many of the local bands celebrated Gail with performances for her in June and September.
Gail loved gardening, entertaining guests and family, decorating her home and working to make her house a warm and inviting home. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and looking at sunsets. She so enjoyed the many sunsets that she was always taking photos of them.
Mrs. Kieffer was a member of Flatiron Community Church. She was also active with the Firestone Historical Society, the Carbon Valley Recreation Center, the Senior Center and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Gail was involved in clinical research for cancer treatments. During her treatments she never complained, always had a graceful attitude and stayed positive. She participated in and supported the Relay for Life to raise funds and awareness for Cancer Research.
Gail was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, her parents, and her four brothers and two sisters. She will be missed by her children: Paul and Kevin Kieffer, Linda and Doug Kieffer-Peterson of Kent, WA, Terry and Scotty Kieffer-Coulimore and Patty Kieffer; by her grandchildren: Tonni, Kris, Matthew and Sara Kieffer; Kerese and Dave Arnold, Meghan Arnold; Josh and Lyndsey Massie, Danielle, Chesey, and Brandon Kieffer; Clair and Bailey Kieffer-Peterson, and two great grandkids: Charlene Schlecht-Arnold and Alexis Massie.
A memorial service to celebrate Gail’s life with be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21 at Howe Mortuary Chapel. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation services.
