Gary was born in Häcklingen, Germany on December 18, 1946, just over a year after World War II ended. His family crossed the pond to settle in the U.S. when he was just five years old.
Windsor, Colorado was the family’s final destination and the place where Gary spent his remaining childhood before joining the Air Force stationed in Texas and later serving in Guam.
When his service to our country came to an end, he took up residence in Longmont, Colorado, where he would enjoy the rest of his years.
Gary had two children, Jennifer and Robert, with his former wife Bobbie. He gained four more children Brady-bunch-style when he married his wife, Karen, in 1994.
Gary worked for the City of Longmont for several years and then spent 35 years working for CBOCES until he retired in 2008. He traded in his computer keyboard for puzzling, listening to polkas, constantly researching and perfecting things around the house and for others, reading, daily walks and workouts, and creating priceless moments with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife Karen, his mother-in-law Bonnie Means of Iowa, three siblings: Irma Reimchen of Calgary (Canada), Goody Leibold (Val) of Aurora, CO and Dittmar Kittler (Layne) of Centennial, CO.
His children, Robert Kittler and Jennifer Salyers (Bruce), his children by marriage, Angela Alexander (Brian), Michael Miller (Julia), Leah Miller (Ryan) and Kendra Miller (Andy), all reside in CO. Gary was also blessed with 10 grandchildren: Logan (Krystin), Jacob, Bryan, Dillon, Emma, Courtney, Evan, Seneca, Nolan and Elsie.
Gary will be remembered as a kind and loving man, a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandpa, opa, brother and friend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Food Share of Louisville, CO or the OUR Center of Longmont.
