

Gary Dean Myers passed away unexpectedly at his home in Longmont, Colorado on October 17th 2015 due to complications with COPD and emphysema. He was 66 years old.Gary was born to the late Charles and Ruby Myers in Madison, South Dakota on June 9th 1949. He grew up with his two brothers, Keith H. Myers of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Stuart C. Myers that precedes him in death. Gary attended school in the Madison area for many years and was a proud graduate of Madison High School. He was often times the troublemaker throughout his school career even being know for being apart of a Senior prank that involved releasing bees in the school. Following school he proudly served his country as a part of the Air Force.He married Joan (Popenhagen) Perry in 1969. They had three children together and then planted their roots in Colorado in 1982 where they resided ever since. They divorced after 16 years of marriage but continued to raise their children together on friendly terms. He then married Lynne Aaby in 1994 in Longmont, Colorado and took on the responsibility of helping her raise her young children. They spent many happy years together and he took pride in his large blended family.Though Gary wasn't a Colorado native, he quickly became a fan of all Colorado sports teams, especially of the Denver Broncos who he followed loyally win or lose. He was known for his love of sports and his love of cars. He turned his love of cars into his career and spent much of his life under the hood. He took care of his customers as if they were family no matter which shop he worked at. Though he was very skilled with tools all he really needed was a can of WD-40 and a roll of duct tape and between the two he could fix just about anything. Gary was a kind soul that told many of those he loved that he had their back no matter what and he truly meant it and helped everyone to the best of his ability. Gary will be greatly missed.Gary is survived by his wife Lynne, his son Rob Myers, his daughter Tracy and her husband Alan Sobran, his daughter Kim Myers, his stepdaughter Lana Maack, his stepdaughter Lisa Maack, his stepdaughter Jodi Maack, his stepdaughter Linda and her husband Randy Kunze, and his stepdaughter Johna and her husband Brycen Garrison; his eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and the mother of his children Joan Perry. He was preceded in death by his stepson John Paul Aaby.A memorial service will be held from 1-3pm on Sunday, November 1st 2015 at the American Legion of Longmont, CO.
