Dr. George Platt, DVM, was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Manhattan, Kan. He passed away at 76 years of age this past Wednesday after suffering complications following a severe stroke. Dr. Platt lived and worked in Eagle County as equine veterinarian for many years. Dr. Platt is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cornelia Platt; his children from his marriage to Nancy Gilman, Kelley (Platt) and her husband, Michael Hurst, Connie (Platt) and her husband, Andy Erickson, and son Andy Platt and his wife, Angie. Dr. Platt is also survived by his children from his marriage to Cornelia Platt, Ross Easterling and Betsy (Easterling) Rectenwald. Dr. Platt has a surviving brother, Carl Bird, and his wife, Naomi, and their children, who live in the Boulder area. The Platt family has 10 grandchildren: Erin (26), Henry (24), Jackson (16), Anna (14), Annika (12), Mitchell (11), Lars (10), Ivy (7), Rex (5) and Faye (4), and countless friends and their beloved dog, Sadie.The good doctor has packed up his tools, thumped the vet unit shut, and is rattling off down a winding mountain road somewhere.
